The Roxbury verse Parsippany Hills meet was quite an interesting swim meet to watch. The Roxbury girls managed to dominate the Parsippany Hills girls, often sweeping the events, and placing first in every race except for one. The Roxbury girls swam their hardest and it showed, proving that Parsippany Hills was no match for the Roxbury girls, beating them 122 to 48.
On the other hand, Roxbury’s boys did have not have as good of a meet as their girls team did. The boys swam hard and produced good times, yet in the end Parsippany Hills beat them with a final score of Parsippany Hills earning 102 points and Roxbury earning 68.
In the first event, the 200 medley relay, Roxbury girls placed 12 points, while Parsippany Hills placed two. Roxbury’s girls placed first, second, and fifth in this event. The first place team consisted of freshman Ashley Singewald and Torie Miller, and Seniors Jackie Fleck and Lindsay Alexander. The second place team consisted of seniors Ashley Sicsko and Sarah Cummins, junior Michelle Graham, and freshman Taylor MacEwen. The fifth place team consisted of freshman Lauren Kelly and Jess Scillia and sophomores Elizabeth Dunphy and Stephanie Zapata. For the boys heat of the 200 medley relay, Roxbury placed second, third, and fifth, while Parsippany Hills placed first. The Roxbury boys second place was compiled of seniors Tim Pessolano and Dave Frisch, and sophomores Tyler Johnston and CJ Roland. The third place team was made up of junior Joe Fumosa, sophomores Eric Hill and David Ward, and freshman Michael Brauer. The fifth place team was made up of sophomores Angelo D’Amato and Mike Dickinson and freshman Juan Osorio and Devin Laureys.
In the 200 freestyle event, Roxbury’s girls swept the event with Singewald placing first, Cummins placing second, and freshman Kelsey Ryan placing third. For the boys heat of the event, Parsippany Hills’s Teddy Krajkowski placed first, while Roxbury’s D’Abbracio placed second and Coraggio placed third. This caused both Roxbury and Parsippany Hills to leave the event with 8 points apiece.
In the 200 individual medley, Roxbury’s girls swept the event for the second time in a row, with Alexander placing first, MacEwen placing second, and junior Erin Ryan placing third. Parsippany Hills’ boys placed first, third, and fourth, leaving Roxbury to earn points for Pessolano’s second place finish and Hill’s fifth place finish.
The next race was the 50 freestyle, and it was the only race of the day the Roxbury girls did not place first in, although they placed second, third, and fifth. Parsippany Hills’ Olivia Meddox was the girl to beat out Roxbury for the first place finish, and the only female first place finish for Parsippany Hills of the day. Roxbury’s Miller placed second, Senior Stephanie Gonzales placed third, and Kelly placed fifth. As for the boys, Parsippany Hills placed first, third, and fifth, while Roxbury was able to earn points for senior Dave Frisch’s second place finish and Brauer’s fourth place finish.
Then next event was the 100 butterfly, and Roxbury’s Fleck came in first and Cummins came in second, while Parsippany Hills’ girls finished third, fourth, and fifth. In the boys 100 butterfly, Parsippany Hills placed first and fourth, while Roxbury’s Johnston placed second, Ward placed third, and Dickenson placed fifth. Based on the boys finished, Roxbury and Parsippany Hills both earned themselves 8 points.
In the 100 freestyle, Roxbury’s girls placed first, third, and fifth, while Parsippany Hills’ girls placed second, fourth, and sixth. The first place finisher was Miller, while the third place finisher was Gonzales, and the fifth place finisher was sophomore Alexa Migton. For the boys heat of the 100 freestyle, Roxbury placed second, third, and fifth, causing both Roxbury and Parsippany Hills to walk away from this event, for the second time in a row, with 8 points each.
The race after the 100 freestyle was the 500 freestyle event, and Roxbury’s girls placed first, second, and fifth. The first place finisher was Singewald, the second place finisher was Graham, and the fifth place finisher was sophomore Marlaina Lutz. For the boys 500 freestyle, Roxbury’s Pessolano placed third and D’Abbracio placed fourth, while Parsippany Hills placed first, second, and fifth.
Roxbury girls took the first, third, and fifth in the 200 freestyle relay. The first place team was Gonzales, MacEwen, Fleck, and Migton. The third place team was Erin Ryan, Kelsey Ryan, senior Kaitlin Dunn, and sophomore Erica Koepfler. The fifth place team consisted of freshman Ann Marie Dunn and Gianna Neutts, sophomore Monika Szumski, and senior Kayla Drobnis. The Roxbury boys also did well in this event, placing first, fourth, and fifth. It was their only race of the day in which they scored more points than Parsippany Hills. The first place team consisted of members Fumosa, Brauer, Johnston, and Coraggio. The fourth place team consisted of Roland, Hill, Ward, and Dickenson. The fifth place team was Osorio and fellow freshman Kyle Mutz and sophomores Brandon Morales and Mark Mizrahi.
In the next event, the 100 backstroke, the Roxbury girls placed first, third, and fifth, with the first place spot being awarded to Alexander, the third place spot to Sicsko, and the fifth place spot to Erin Ryan. Between Brauer, Mutz, and Sicsko the boys were able to earn their Roxbury boys team seven points.
In the 100 breaststroke, Roxbury girls, for the third time, swept the race, with Migton earning the first place position, MacEwen a close second, followed by Graham in third. As for the boys, Parsippany Hills managed to sweep the race, putting Hill in fourth and Scillia in fifth.
The last event of the Parsippany Hills verse Roxbury meet was the 400 freestyle relay. The girls placed first, second, and fourth, helping secure their complete domination over the Parsippany Hills girls team. The first place team was Gonzales, Miller, Singewald, and Alexander. The second place team consisted of members Cummins, Migton, Sicsko, and Fleck. The fourth place team was Neutts, Lutz, Drobnis, and Zapata. As for the Roxbury boys, they placed second, fourth, and fifth. The second place team consisted of Coraggio, Pessolano, Frisch, and Fumosa. The fourth place team consisted of Johnston, Ward, D’Abbracio, and Dickenson. The fifth place team consisted of Siscko, Scillia, and sophomores Eric Moo and Steven Haas.
While this meet wasn’t a best one for the Roxbury boys, the Roxbury girls impressed all with such an amazing meet, proving that they truly are a force to be reckoned with.
